Global solar and energy storage leader Sungrow has announced the successful commissioning of a 60MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Simo, Finland, marking one of the northernmost battery power plants in the world.
The project aims to enhance grid stability and support Finland’s transition to renewable energy sources. The PowerTitan system integrates a 5 MWh battery with a 2.5 MW power conversion system (PCS) into a single 20-foot container, utilizing a liquid-cooled design.
The deployment in Simo marks Sungrow’s continued expansion into the European energy storage market, following previous installations in the UK and other regions. With the potential for future expansion to 200 MWh, the company’s latest project underscores the growing importance of advanced energy storage systems across all geographies.
