This emphasized the fact that for Ghana to meet its energy demands, more of its energy consumption potentials should be shifted towards renewable energy such as solar energy to achieve economic development and increase its GDP.
A reliable energy supply is the backbone of any modern and successful economy. Ghana is not different and it has taken several steps in bolstering its supply of energy. From Table 3, Ghana exported 13900GWh and imported 8648GWh of energy which is equivalent to 61.65% and 38.35% respectively, between 2000 and 2020.
By this, Government policy is aimed at increasing the generation of energy through renewable energy by at least 70% by 2020 (National Energy Statistics of Ghana 2020). Fig. 10 shows an annual average of energy imported and exported in Ghana.
