Spherical containers and BTA inhibitors (Fig. 1 b), lamellar containers and PDA inhibitors (Fig. 1 c), tubular containers and 8-HQ inhibitors (Fig. 1 d) are respectively used as examples to demonstrate the corrosion prevention mechanism of different structure types of micron-nano containers in coatings. The impermeable 2D material acts as a passive barrier and loads corrosion inhibitors together with other materials to achieve synergistic corrosion protection. There is one thing worth noting, for lamellar micron-nano containers, thin and thick coatings can be applied to them just like tubular containers.
When Azo is used for corrosion protection, the “closed/open” state of the micron-nano container channel can be adjusted through reversible trans photoisomerization conversion to control the storage and release of corrosion inhibitors.
The traditional corrosion protection coating works as a physical barrier, which could isolate the metal products from the external medium, to avoid the reaction condition of the corrosion process. The most common industrial applications mainly include metallic coating, inorganic coating, and organic coating.
