As China accelerates the deployment of renewable energy, the stability of the power system faces persistent operational constraints. Energy storage, serving as a pivotal enabling technology for the energy transition, has witnessed rapid development nationwide.
New energy storage encompasses diverse forms of energy storage beyond pumped hydro storage, including battery energy storage (BES), compressed air energy storage, and flywheel energy storage. While the aforementioned research primarily examines the microeconomic perspective, focusing on the application of specific energy storage (ES) technologies, there is also a body of literature that analyzes the macro-level impact of ES in regional power systems.
