As the power breakdown is not available from on-site measurements, we use an existing power model of cellular BSs to estimate that the analog and digital components are respectively responsible for 14% and 22% of power consumption at no-traffic load, and of 10% and 18% at high-traffic load.

Among numerous existing energy saving techniques for 5G BSs , the sleep mode (SM) is a feature that reduces the idle-state power consumption [17, 23].
