PLC power supplies come in various forms, each catering to specific system requirements. Some smaller PLCs, especially compact units with integrated I/O points, come with built-in power supplies. These accept AC input directly and convert it to the necessary DC voltage internally.

It will not power the output terminals (loads) or the input devices (sensors and switches).

What voltage does a PLC use?

In standard, PLC operates in four types of voltages – 24V DC, 24V AC, 110V AC, and 240V AC. In some PLCs, only the CPU requires a power supply and the IO modules get supply from the CPU backplane, whereas in some PLCs, all the modules including CPU, inputs, and outputs require a power supply.
